Nuzhat al-Albab fi al-Alqab by Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani is classified under biographies and classes, and is concerned with collecting and classifying surnames, names, nicknames, lineages, tribes, and the habitats of scholars, arranged according to the letters of the Arabic alphabet. The author explains in his introduction that knowing these titles contributes to distinguishing what is agreed upon from what is separated and evaluating the strength of the chains of transmission in hadith science.
