إنباء الغمر بأبناء العمر هو مؤلف ضخم يقع في حوالي ألف صفحة كبيرة ألفه شهاب الدين أحمد بن علي بن محمد بن علي بن محمود بن أحمد ابن حجر العسقلاني، حيث يتبع نظام الحوليات والشهور والأيام في تدوين الحوادث، ثم يتبع حوادث كل سنة بأعيان الوفيات، وقد أفاض في ذكر ما يتعلق بمصر من هذه الحوادث، وهو يتناول الأحداث التي وقعت بين سنة (773- 850). قال الحافظ ابن حجر متحدثا عن كتابه :

Anbaa Al-Ghamr bi Ibn Al-Omar is a huge book containing about a thousand large pages, written by Shihab al-Din Ahmad ibn Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Mahmoud ibn Ahmad ibn Hajar al-Asqalani. It follows the system of yearbooks, months, and days in recording events, then follows the events of each year with notable deaths. He has mentioned in detail what is related to Egypt of these events, and it deals with the events that occurred between the years (773-850). Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar said, speaking about his book:
