هذه رسالة من الإمام أبي داود السجستاني إلى أهل مكة وغيرهم، يصف فيها منهجه في كتابه "السنن". يوضح فيها معايير اختياره للأحاديث، وبيان ما في كتابه من أحاديث صحيحة وحسنة، مع ذكر موقفه من الأحاديث الضعيفة والمرسلة والمدلسة. كما يشرح سبب قلة الأحاديث في بعض الأبواب، وطريقته في إعادة الحديث لزيادة فائدة، ويؤكد أن أحاديث كتابه هي أصول المسائل الفقهية.

Translation

This is a letter from Imam Abu Dawud al-Sijistani to the people of Mecca and others, in which he describes his approach in his book “Al-Sunan.” In it, he explains the criteria for his selection of hadiths, and explains the authentic and good hadiths in his book, while mentioning his position on weak, mursal, and fabricated hadiths. He also explains the reason for the scarcity of hadiths in some chapters, his method of repeating the hadith to increase the benefit, and confirms that the hadiths of his book are the foundations of jurisprudential issues.
