هذا كتاب في علم الرجال، يبحث في نشأة هذا العلم وتطوره عبر القرون، من القرن الأول الهجري حتى نهاية القرن التاسع. يقدم المؤلف دراسة منهجية لأنواع كتب الرجال المختلفة، مثل كتب الطبقات، ومعرفة الصحابة، والجرح والتعديل، والتواريخ المحلية، وكتب الأسماء والكنى، وغيرها، مع تعريف بكل نوع وأشهر المصنفات فيه.

Translation

This is a book on the science of men, examining the origins of this science and its development over the centuries, from the first century AH until the end of the ninth century. The author presents a systematic study of the different types of men's books, such as books on classes, knowledge of the companions, al-Jarh wa al-Ta'deel, local histories, books on names and nicknames, and others, with an introduction to each type and the most famous works in it.
