The book “Advice to the People of Hadith” by Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi is a treatise on the sciences of hadith, written by the author as an advice to the student of hadith in particular and to others in general, urging him to distinguish himself from the people of ignorance and to strive diligently in the pursuit of knowledge. The book directs the student of hadith to the necessity of understanding the sciences of hadith and knowing its rulings before he ascends to leadership, citing traditions from the predecessors urging him to seek knowledge at an early age.
