كتاب الموافقات في بيان مقاصد الكتاب والسنة والحكم والمصالح الكلية الكامنة تحت آحاد الأدلة ومفردات التشريع والتعريف بأسرار التكاليف في الشريعة ألفه الحافظ إبراهيم بن موسى الشاطبي (ت: 790 هـ 1388), وقد اختار إبراهيم بن موسى الشاطبي للكتاب اسمًا غير اسم الموافقات وهو التعريف بأسرار التكليف إلا أنه عدل عنه إلى الموافقات وكان ذلك بسبب رؤيا لأحد مشايخه حين قال الشيخ للإمام الشاطبي رأيتك البارحة في النوم وفي يدك كتاب ألفته فسألتك عنه فأخبرتني أنه الموافقات وسألتك عن معنى هذه التسمية الظريفة فأخبرتني أنك وفقت به بين مذهبي ابن القاسم وأبي حنيفة .

Translation

The Book of Confirmations in Explaining the Objectives of the Qur’an, Sunnah, Ruling, and the Universal Interests Underlying the Individual Evidences and Vocabulary of Legislation and Defining the Secrets of Obligations in Sharia, written by Al-Hafiz Ibrahim bin Musa Al-Shatibi (d. 790 AH 1388). Ibrahim bin Musa Al-Shatibi chose a name for the book other than the name of Al-Mu’awafaqat, which is an introduction to the secrets of assignments, but he changed it to Al-Muwafaqat, and that was because of a vision by one of his sheikhs when the Sheikh said to Imam Al-Shatibi, “I saw you yesterday in a dream with your hand in it.” A book I wrote, so I asked you about it, and you told me that it was Al-Muwafaqat. I asked you about the meaning of this cute name, and you told me that you reconciled the doctrines of Ibn al-Qasim and Abu Hanifa with it.
