Translation

The book “Tazim al-Fatwa” by Ibn al-Jawzi deals with the subject of the principles of jurisprudence and jurisprudential rules, explaining the conditions for fatwas and the importance of caution in expressing a legal opinion. The author points out that the scholars of the Salaf were investigating the necessary conditions before issuing fatwas, and warns against the recklessness of some caliphs in this area. The book focuses on the necessity of memorizing the Qur’an and Sunnah and understanding them correctly before being able to issue a fatwa, and mentions a severe threat to those who issue fatwas without possessing the necessary competence.
