حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍعَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ شَهِدْتُ حِلْفَ الْمُطَيَّبِينَ مَعَ عُمُومَتِي وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ فَمَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ لِي حُمْرَ النَّعَمِ وَأَنِّي أَنْكُثُهُقَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يُصِبْ الْإِسْلَامُ حِلْفًا إِلَّا زَادَهُ شِدَّةً وَلَا حِلْفَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ وَقَدْ أَلَّفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ قُرَيْشٍ وَالْأَنْصَارِ

Bishr bin Al-Mufaddal told us, on the authority of Abdul Rahman bin Ishaq, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Muhammad bin Jubayr bin Mut’im, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Abdul Al-Rahman bin Awf, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “I witnessed the oath of the righteous with my aunts, and I am a boy. I do not like to have red camels, but I And he wrote it. Al-Zuhri said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: Islam has never afflicted an oath without increasing its severity, and there is no swearing in Islam. He wrote The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, between the Quraysh and the Ansar

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍأَنَّهُ قَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ يَا غُلَامُ هَلْ سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ إِذَا شَكَّ الرَّجُلُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ مَاذَا يَصْنَعُ قَالَ فَبَيْنَا هُوَ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ أَقْبَلَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ فَقَالَ فِيمَ أَنْتُمَا فَقَالَ عُمَرُ سَأَلْتُ هَذَا الْغُلَامَ هَلْ سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ أَحَدٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ إِذَا شَكَّ الرَّجُلُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ مَاذَا يَصْنَعُ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِذَا شَكَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ أَوَاحِدَةً صَلَّى أَمْ ثِنْتَيْنِ فَلْيَجْعَلْهَا وَاحِدَةً وَإِذَا لَمْ يَدْرِ ثِنْتَيْنِ صَلَّى أَمْ ثَلَاثًا فَلْيَجْعَلْهَا ثِنْتَيْنِ وَإِذَا لَمْ يَدْرِ أَثَلَاثًا صَلَّى أَمْ أَرْبَعًا فَلْيَجْعَلْهَا ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ يَسْجُدْ إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ

Ibrahim bin Saad narrated to us, Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated to me, on the authority of Makhoul, on the authority of Kurayb, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, that Omar said to him, O boy, have you heard? From the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, or from one of his companions. If a man doubted about his prayer, what should he do? He said, “It is like that.” Abdul Rahman bin Awf came and said, “What are you two about?” Omar said, “I asked this boy: Have you heard from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace? One of his companions said: If a man doubts about his prayer, what should he do? Abdul Rahman said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, say: If he doubts If one of you is praying and does not know whether he prayed one or two days, let him make it one, and if he does not know whether he prayed two or three, let him make it two. If he does not know whether to pray three times or four, he should make it three times, then prostrate when he has finished his prayer while sitting, before saying the two prostrations.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَطَلْحَةَ وَالزُّبَيْرِ وَسَعْدٍنَشَدْتُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ الَّذِي تَقُومُ بِهِ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً الَّذِي بِإِذْنِهِ تَقُومُ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ أَعَلِمْتُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّا لَا نُورَثُ مَا تَرَكْنَا صَدَقَةٌ قَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ

Sufyan told us, on the authority of Amr, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Malik ibn Aws: I heard Omar saying to Abd al-Rahman, Talha, al-Zubayr, and Sa`d: I sought you. By God, by whom the heavens and the earth stand. And he once said, “By God by whom the heavens and the earth stand. You know that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, He said, “We do not inherit anything we leave as charity.” They said, “Oh God, yes.”

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَارِظٍ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُأَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَهُوَ مَرِيضٌ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَصَلَتْكَ رَحِمٌ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنَا الرَّحْمَنُ خَلَقْتُ الرَّحِمَ وَشَقَقْتُ لَهَا مِنْ اسْمِي فَمَنْ يَصِلْهَا أَصِلْهُ وَمَنْ يَقْطَعْهَا أَقْطَعْهُ فَأَبُتَّهُ أَوْ قَالَ مَنْ يَبُتَّهَا أَبُتَّهُ

Yazid bin Harun told us, Hisham Al-Dastawai told us, on the authority of Yahya bin Abi Kathir, on the authority of Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Qarith, that His father told him that he had entered upon Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf while he was sick, and Abd al-Rahman said to him, “May your family be with you. Indeed, the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him.” And he said, “God Almighty said, ‘I am the Most Merciful. I created the womb and divided it from My Name. So whoever joins it will have the root of it, and whoever cuts it, I will cut it off.’” So he refused, or he said: Whoever refused, he refused.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ قَارِظٍ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا صَلَّتْ الْمَرْأَةُ خَمْسَهَا وَصَامَتْ شَهْرَهَا وَحَفِظَتْ فَرْجَهَا وَأَطَاعَتْ زَوْجَهَا قِيلَ لَهَا ادْخُلِي الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أَيِّ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ شِئْتِ

Yahya bin Ishaq told us, Ibn Lahi’ah told us, on the authority of Ubayd Allah bin Abi Ja’far, that Ibn Qarith told him on the authority of Abd al-Rahman bin Awf. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: If a woman prays her five days of prayer, fasts her month, keeps her private chastity, and obeys her husband It was said to her, “Enter Paradise through any gate of Paradise you wish.”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ مَنْصُورُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْهَادِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي الْحُوَيْرِثِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاتَّبَعْتُهُ حَتَّى دَخَلَ نَخْلًا فَسَجَدَ فَأَطَالَ السُّجُودَ حَتَّى خِفْتُ أَوْ خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَكُونَ اللَّهُ قَدْ تَوَفَّاهُ أَوْ قَبَضَهُ قَالَ فَجِئْتُ أَنْظُرُ فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ مَا لَكَ يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام قَالَ لِي أَلَا أُبَشِّرُكَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ لَكَ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ صَلَّيْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنْ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكَ سَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِحَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبِي الْحُوَيْرِثِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَارِجًا مِنْ الْمَسْجِدِ فَاتَّبَعْتُهُ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

Abu Salamah Mansour bin Salamah Al-Khuza’i narrated to us, Laith narrated to us, on the authority of Yazid bin Al-Had, on the authority of Amr bin Abi Amr, on the authority of Abu Al-Huwayrith. On the authority of Muhammad bin Jubayr bin Mutim, on the authority of Abd al-Rahman bin Awf, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, left, so I followed him until he entered a palm tree. So he prostrated and prolonged his prostration until I became afraid, or feared, that God had taken him to death or taken him. He said, “I came to see, and he raised his head and said, ‘What’s the matter with you?’” O Abdul Rahman, he said, so I mentioned that to him, and he said, “Gabriel, peace be upon him, told me, ‘Shall I not bring you good tidings? Indeed, God Almighty says to you, ‘Whoever prayed upon you?’” I prayed upon him, and whoever greets you, you greet him. Yunus narrated to us, Laith narrated to us, on the authority of Yazid, on the authority of Amr, on the authority of Abd al-Rahman Abi al-Huwayrith, on the authority of Muhammad. Ibn Jubayr, on the authority of Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, said: I entered the mosque and saw the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, leaving the mosque, so I followed him. So he mentioned the hadith

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَتَوَجَّهَ نَحْوَ صَدَقَتِهِ فَدَخَلَ فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ فَخَرَّ سَاجِدًا فَأَطَالَ السُّجُودَ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ قَبَضَ نَفْسَهُ فِيهَا فَدَنَوْتُ مِنْهُ فَجَلَسْتُ فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ مَنْ هَذَا قُلْتُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ مَا شَأْنُكَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ سَجَدْتَ سَجْدَةً خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَكُونَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ قَبَضَ نَفْسَكَ فِيهَا فَقَالَ إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام أَتَانِي فَبَشَّرَنِي فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ صَلَّيْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنْ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكَ سَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَسَجَدْتُ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ شُكْرًا

Abu Sa`id, the client of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Sulayman bin Bilal narrated to us, Amr bin Abi Amr narrated to us, on the authority of Abd al-Wahid bin Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, on the authority of Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, left and went toward his charity and entered. So he faced the Qiblah and fell down, prostrating. He prolonged the prostration until I thought that God Almighty had caught Himself in it, so I approached him and sat down, and he raised himself up. His head and said, “Who is this?” I said, “Abdul-Rahman.” He said, “What is the matter with you?” I said, “O Messenger of God, I prostrated in a prostration. I was afraid that God Almighty had He caught his breath and said, “Gabriel, peace be upon him, came to me and gave me good tidings, and said, ‘Indeed, God Almighty says, “Whoever prays upon you, I pray upon him, and whoever greets you.” I greeted him and prostrated to God Almighty in gratitude.

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ يَقُولُسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِذَا كَانَ الْوَبَاءُ بِأَرْضٍ وَلَسْتَ بِهَا فَلَا تَدْخُلْهَا وَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتَ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجْ مِنْهَا

A spirit narrated to us, Muhammad bin Abi Hafsa narrated to us, Al-Zuhri narrated to us, on the authority of Ubayd Allah bin Abdullah, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said: I heard Abd Al-Rahman bin Awf said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saying: If the epidemic occurs in a land and you are not there, do not enter it. In a land while you are in it, do not leave it.

حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قُسَيْطٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍأَنَّ قَوْمًا مِنْ الْعَرَبِ أَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ فَأَسْلَمُوا وَأَصَابَهُمْ وَبَاءُ الْمَدِينَةِ حُمَّاهَا فَأُرْكِسُوا فَخَرَجُوا مِنْ الْمَدِينَةِ فَاسْتَقْبَلَهُمْ نَفَرٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ يَعْنِي أَصْحَابَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالُوا لَهُمْ مَا لَكُمْ رَجَعْتُمْ قَالُوا أَصَابَنَا وَبَاءُ الْمَدِينَةِ فَاجْتَوَيْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ فَقَالُوا أَمَا لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ نَافَقُوا وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لَمْ يُنَافِقُوا هُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ{ فَمَا لَكُمْ فِي الْمُنَافِقِينَ فِئَتَيْنِ وَاللَّهُ أَرْكَسَهُمْ بِمَا كَسَبُوا }الْآيَةَ

Aswad bin Amir told us, Hammad bin Salamah told us, on the authority of Muhammad bin Ishaq, on the authority of Yazid bin Abdullah bin Qusayt, on the authority of Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Rahman bin Awf, on the authority of Abd al-Rahman bin Awf, that a group of Arabs came to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, in Medina. So they converted to Islam, and they were struck by an epidemic that protected the city, so they were crushed, so they left the city, and a group of its companions, meaning the companions of the Prophet, met them. May God bless him and grant him peace. They said to them, “What is the matter with you that you returned?” They said, “We were struck by an epidemic of Medina, so we invaded Medina.” They said, “Is there anything wrong with you regarding the Messenger of God?” As an example, some of them said, “They are hypocrites,” and some of them said, “They are not hypocrites. They are Muslims.” So God Almighty, the Majestic, revealed, “So what do you have regarding the hypocrites? And God has blessed them with what they have earned.} The verse

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ قَالَأَقْطَعَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ أَرْضَ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَذَهَبَ الزُّبَيْرُ إِلَى آلِ عُمَرَ فَاشْتَرَى نَصِيبَهُ مِنْهُمْ فَأَتَى عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ زَعَمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْطَعَهُ وَعُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ أَرْضَ كَذَا وَكَذَا وَإِنِّي اشْتَرَيْتُ نَصِيبَ آلِ عُمَرَ فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ جَائِزُ الشَّهَادَةِ لَهُ وَعَلَيْهِ

Affan told us, Hammad bin Salamah told us, Hisham bin Urwa told us, on the authority of Urwa, that Abd al-Rahman bin Awf said: The Messenger of God cut me off. May God bless him and grant him peace, and Omar bin Al-Khattab received such-and-such land, so Al-Zubayr went to the family of Omar and bought his share from them, so Othman bin Affan, and he said that Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf claimed that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, allotted him land and that ibn al-Khattab occupied such-and-such land. And I bought the share of the family of Omar, and Othman Abd al-Rahman said: It is permissible to bear witness to him and to him.

حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ أَبُو خِدَاشٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلٌ مَوْلَى أَبِي عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ بَشَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي سَيْفٍ الْجَرْمِيِّ عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ غُطَيْفٍ قَالَدَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ الْجَرَّاحِ نَعُودُهُ مِنْ شَكْوًى أَصَابَهُ وَامْرَأَتُهُ تُحَيْفَةُ قَاعِدَةٌ عِنْدَ رَأْسِهِ قُلْتُ كَيْفَ بَاتَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ قَالَتْ وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ بَاتَ بِأَجْرٍ فَقَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ مَا بِتُّ بِأَجْرٍ وَكَانَ مُقْبِلًا بِوَجْهِهِ عَلَى الْحَائِطِ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَسْأَلُونَنِي عَمَّا قُلْتُ قَالُوا مَا أَعْجَبَنَا مَا قُلْتَ فَنَسْأَلُكَ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَنْفَقَ نَفَقَةً فَاضِلَةً فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَبِسَبْعِ مِائَةٍ وَمَنْ أَنْفَقَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ وَأَهْلِهِ أَوْ عَادَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ مَازَ أَذًى فَالْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا وَالصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ مَا لَمْ يَخْرِقْهَا وَمَنْ ابْتَلَاهُ اللَّهُ بِبَلَاءٍ فِي جَسَدِهِ فَهُوَ لَهُ حِطَّةٌ

Ziyad bin Al-Rabi’ Abu Khaddash told us, Wasil, the client of Abu Uyaynah, told us, on the authority of Bashar bin Abi Saif Al-Jurmi, on the authority of Iyad bin Ghaytif. I said, “How did Abu spend the night?” Ubaidah said, “By God, he spent the night with a reward.” Abu Ubaidah said, “I did not spend the night with a reward.” He was facing the wall, so he turned to... He looked at him and said, “Will you not ask me about what I said?” They said, “We did not like what you said, so we will ask you about it.” He said, “I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.” And he said: Whoever spends virtuously in the path of God will be rewarded with seven hundred, and whoever spends on himself and his family, or visits a sick person, or has passed an affliction. A good deed is multiplied tenfold, and fasting is a shield as long as one does not break it, and whoever God tests in his body, it is a humiliation for him.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حِسْبَةَ مُسْلِمُ بْنُ أُكَيْسٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ الْجَرَّاحِ قَالَ ذَكَرَ مَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَوَجَدَهُ يَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا يُبْكِيكَ يَا أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ فَقَالَنَبْكِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرَ يَوْمًا مَا يَفْتَحُ اللَّهُ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَيُفِيءُ عَلَيْهِمْ حَتَّى ذَكَرَ الشَّامَ فَقَالَ إِنْ يُنْسَأْ فِي أَجَلِكَ يَا أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ فَحَسْبُكَ مِنْ الْخَدَمِ ثَلَاثَةٌ خَادِمٌ يَخْدُمُكَ وَخَادِمٌ يُسَافِرُ مَعَكَ وَخَادِمٌ يَخْدُمُ أَهْلَكَ وَيَرُدُّ عَلَيْهِمْ وَحَسْبُكَ مِنْ الدَّوَابِّ ثَلَاثَةٌ دَابَّةٌ لِرَحْلِكَ وَدَابَّةٌ لِثَقَلِكَ وَدَابَّةٌ لِغُلَامِكَ ثُمَّ هَذَا أَنَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى بَيْتِي قَدْ امْتَلَأَ رَقِيقًا وَأَنْظُرُ إِلَى مِرْبَطِي قَدْ امْتَلَأَ دَوَابَّ وَخَيْلًا فَكَيْفَ أَلْقَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدَ هَذَا وَقَدْ أَوْصَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ أَحَبَّكُمْ إِلَيَّ وَأَقْرَبَكُمْ مِنِّي مَنْ لَقِيَنِي عَلَى مِثْلِ الْحَالِ الَّذِي فَارَقَنِي عَلَيْهَا

Abu Al-Mughirah narrated to us, Safwan bin Amr narrated to us, Abu Hisbah Muslim bin Ukis, the client of Abdullah bin Amir, narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah said he mentioned someone who entered upon him and found him crying and said, “What makes you cry, Abu Ubaidah?” He said, “We are crying because the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.” He, peace and blessings of God be upon him, mentioned a day when God would grant victory to the Muslims and give them redress. He even mentioned the Levant and said, “May it be rewarded for your sake, O Abu Ubaidah.” Three servants are sufficient for you: a servant who serves you, a servant who travels with you, and a servant who serves your family and responds to them. Three animals are sufficient for you: a moving animal. For your journey, and an animal for your burden, and an animal for your servant, then here I am looking at my house, it is filled with thirst, and I am looking at my stall, it is full. animals and horses, so how did the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, meet after this? The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, commanded us, “I love you.” And the closest of you to me is the one who met me in the same state in which he left me.

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنْ رَابِّهِ رَجُلٍ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ كَانَ خَلَفَ عَلَى أُمِّهِ بَعْدَ أَبِيهِ كَانَ شَهِدَ طَاعُونَ عَمَوَاسَ قَالَلَمَّا اشْتَعَلَ الْوَجَعُ قَامَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ فِي النَّاسِ خَطِيبًا فَقَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَجَعَ رَحْمَةُ رَبِّكُمْ وَدَعْوَةُ نَبِيِّكُمْ وَمَوْتُ الصَّالِحِينَ قَبْلَكُمْ وَإِنَّ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَقْسِمَ لَهُ مِنْهُ حَظَّهُ قَالَ فَطُعِنَ فَمَاتَ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُوَاسْتُخْلِفَ عَلَى النَّاسِ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ فَقَامَ خَطِيبًا بَعْدَهُ فَقَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَجَعَ رَحْمَةُ رَبِّكُمْ وَدَعْوَةُ نَبِيِّكُمْ وَمَوْتُ الصَّالِحِينَ قَبْلَكُمْ وَإِنَّ مُعَاذًا يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَقْسِمَ لِآلِ مُعَاذٍ مِنْهُ حَظَّهُ قَالَ فَطُعِنَ ابْنُهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ فَمَاتَ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ لِنَفْسِهِ فَطُعِنَ فِي رَاحَتِهِ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا ثُمَّ يُقَبِّلُ ظَهْرَ كَفِّهِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ مَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ لِي بِمَا فِيكِ شَيْئًا مِنْ الدُّنْيَا فَلَمَّا مَاتَ اسْتُخْلِفَ عَلَى النَّاسِ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ فَقَامَ فِينَا خَطِيبًا فَقَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَجَعَ إِذَا وَقَعَ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْتَعِلُ اشْتِعَالَ النَّارِ فَتَجَبَّلُوا مِنْهُ فِي الْجِبَالِ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو وَاثِلَةَ الْهُذَلِيُّ كَذَبْتَ وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ صَحِبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنْتَ شَرٌّ مِنْ حِمَارِي هَذَا قَالَ وَاللَّهِ مَا أَرُدُّ عَلَيْكَ مَا تَقُولُ وَايْمُ اللَّهِ لَا نُقِيمُ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ وَخَرَجَ النَّاسُ فَتَفَرَّقُوا عَنْهُ وَدَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ قَالَ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ مِنْ رَأْيِ عَمْرٍو فَوَاللَّهِ مَا كَرِهَهُ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ عَبْد اللَّهِ بْن أَحْمَد بْن حَنْبَلٍ أَبَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ جَدُّ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ مُشْكُدَانَةَ

He said, “So he was stabbed and died, may God have mercy on him.” Mu’adh ibn Jabal was appointed as his successor over the people, and he stood up and preached after him. He said, “O people! This pain is the mercy of your Lord, the call of your Prophet, and the death of the righteous before you. And Mu’adh asks God to distribute his share of it to Mu’adh’s family. He said, “So his son Abd al-Rahman bin Muadh was stabbed and died, then he got up and called upon his Lord for his soul, and he was stabbed at his resting place. I saw him looking at it, then He kisses the back of his hand and then says, “I do not like to have something of this world in you, and when he died, Amr ibn al-Aas was appointed over the people, and he preached to us.” So he said, “O people, this pain, when it occurs, will only ignite like fire, so mount some of it in the mountains.” He said, “Abu Wathilah said to him.” Al-Hudhali, you lied. By God, I accompanied the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and you are worse than this donkey of mine. He said, by God, I will not respond to you. You say, “By God, we will not attack him.” Then he left and the people left and dispersed from him, and God pushed him away from them. He said, “This reached Omar Ibn Al-Khattab from his opinion.” Amr, by God, he did not dislike it. Abu Abd al-Rahman Abd Allah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal said: Aban ibn Salih, grandfather of Abu Abd al-Rahman Confused

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ دَاوُدَ عَنْ عَامِرٍ قَالَبَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَيْشَ ذَاتِ السُّلَاسِلِ فَاسْتَعْمَلَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ عَلَى الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَاسْتَعْمَلَ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ عَلَى الْأَعْرَابِ فَقَالَ لَهُمَا تَطَاوَعَا قَالَ وَكَانُوا يُؤْمَرُونَ أَنْ يُغِيرُوا عَلَى بَكْرٍ فَانْطَلَقَ عَمْرٌو فَأَغَارَ عَلَى قُضَاعَةَ لِأَنَّ بَكْرًا أَخْوَالُهُ فَانْطَلَقَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ إِلَى أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَعْمَلَكَ عَلَيْنَا وَإِنَّ ابْنَ فُلَانٍ قَدْ ارْتَبَعَ أَمْرَ الْقَوْمِ وَلَيْسَ لَكَ مَعَهُ أَمْرٌ فَقَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَتَطَاوَعَ فَأَنَا أُطِيعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَإِنْ عَصَاهُ عَمْرٌو

Muhammad ibn Abi Adi told us, on the authority of Dawud, on the authority of Amer, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, sent the army of Dhat al-Salasil, so he employed Abu Ubaidah. Against the immigrants, and Amr ibn al-Aas used the matter against the Bedouins, and he said to them, “They volunteered.” He said, “And they were ordered to attack Bakr.” So Amr set off. So he attacked Quda’ah because he was the firstborn of his maternal uncles. Al-Mughirah bin Shu’bah went to Abu Ubaidah and said that the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, He appointed you over us, and the son of so-and-so has followed the leadership of the people, and you have no authority with him. Abu Ubaidah said, “The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, He commanded us to obey, and I obey the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, even if Amr disobeys him.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنْبَأَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ وَاصِلٍ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ غُطَيْفٍ قَالَدَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ نَعُودُهُ قَالَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَنْفَقَ نَفَقَةً فَاضِلَةً فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَبِسَبْعِ مِائَةٍ وَمَنْ أَنْفَقَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ أَوْ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ أَوْ عَادَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ مَازَ أَذًى عَنْ طَرِيقٍ فَهِيَ حَسَنَةٌ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا وَالصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ مَا لَمْ يَخْرِقْهَا وَمَنْ ابْتَلَاهُ اللَّهُ بَلَاءً فِي جَسَدِهِ فَهُوَ لَهُ حِطَّةٌحَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَنْبَأَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا بَشَّارُ بْنُ أَبِي سَيْفٍ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ غُطَيْفٍ قَالَ دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ
