Mush'ab bin 'Umair

First Islamic Ambassador to Medina

Mush'ab bin 'Umair RA came from a prominent and wealthy family in Mecca, but was willing to leave all his luxuries to embrace Islam. He was sent by the Prophet ﷺ as the first missionary ambassador to Medina before the hijrah, and succeeded in converting many of its residents through gentleness and patience in preaching. He was martyred in the Battle of Uhud with a shroud that didn't even cover his entire body - a stark contrast to his wealth in the past, becoming an example of seriousness in prioritizing the afterlife.

The Pampered Youth Who Left the World

Mush'ab bin 'Umair was the most handsome and luxurious young man in Makkah, pampered by his mother with the most expensive clothes and perfume. When he embraced Islam, he was willing to leave all those luxuries, tortured and expelled by his family, choosing faith above the world.

First Islamic Ambassador to Medina

The Prophet ﷺ sent Mush'ab as the first ambassador and teacher to Yathrib (Medina) to teach the Koran and Islam. Through his wisdom and gentleness, many Aus and Khazraj figures converted to Islam, preparing the way for the hijrah of the Prophet ﷺ.

Martyred at Uhud with Not Enough Cloth

At the Battle of Uhud, Mush'ab held the banner until both hands were cut off and he died as a martyr. When she was about to be shrouded, the cloth did not cover her body enough: if she covered her head, her legs were exposed. The Prophet ﷺ cried remembering him as a person who kept his promise to Allah.
