Sa'id bin Al-Musayyib
سَعِيد بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ
Leading Tabi'in Jurist in Medina
Sa'id bin Al-Musayyib is known as one of the "Seven Fuqaha of Medina" (Fuqaha As-Sab'ah), the most respected figures for their knowledge among tabi'in in the field of fiqh and hadith. He was known to be very brave in conveying the truth before the authorities, and was even imprisoned and whipped for refusing to pledge allegiance to a caliph for reasons of principle. His arrogance was extraordinary - he rejected various offers of wealth and position in order to maintain his scientific independence.
1Tabi'in ruler in Medina
Sa'id bin Al-Musayyib (15–94 AH), imam of the tabi'in in Medina, expert in jurisprudence and hadith, son-in-law of Abu Hurairah. He was known to know best about Umar bin Khattab's decisions, and was one of the seven fuqaha of Medina.

2Firmly Rejecting Tyranny
He refused to marry his daughter to the caliph's son in order to protect his religion, until he was whipped, but remained firm. He died in Medina in 94 AH, an example of a scholar who protected the knowledge of knowledge from the pressures of power.
