✍️ Nahwu-Shorof

Al-Imrithi

✍️ Syaikh Syarafuddin Yahya Al-Imrithi

Nazham nahwu by Syaikh Sharafuddin Yahya Al-Imrithi, the poet reworked Matan Al-Ajurrumiyyah into around 254 verses to make it easier to memorize and sing. Becoming a bridge between the concise Al-Jurumiyyah and the extensive Alfiyah in the Islamic boarding school learning ladder. Deepen the rules of I'rab while training students to memorize verses.

Chapter 1: Muqaddimah & Kalam

Nahwu Opening & Learning Objectives

Translation

Says the person who hopes for Allah Ash-Shamad's mercy: Yahya Al-Imrithi — on this he relies. Praise be to Allah who taught us nahwu and through him we understand. In our opinion, kalam is a word that contains meaning - such as 'Zaid is coming' and 'Zaid makes the announcer laugh'.

Commentary

Al-Imrithi composed nadhom to make memorizing Jurumiyyah easier. Noble goal: learn nahwu to understand the Koran and Hadith. 'Rajiy rahmatir rabbish-shamad' = humility typical of ulama. Two examples of elegant kalam: short sentences but perfect in meaning.

Nadhom I'rab & Asmaul Khamsah

Translation

I'rab = changing the end of a word because of amil. Asmaul khamsah (5 special isim): Ab, Akh, Ham, Fu, Dzu — rafa' with waw (أَبُوكَ), nashab with alif (أَبَاكَ), jar with ya' (أَبِيكَ).

Commentary

Asmaul khamsah is marked with i'rab letters (not harakat). Terms: singular, mudhaf (continuous with other words), mudhaf ilaih not ya' mutakallim. Example: أَبُوكَ كَرِيمٌ (your father is noble) → أَبُوكَ rafa' with waw.
