Prophet Moses

Pharaoh oppressed the Children of Israel and slaughtered each of their male babies. When Moses was born, Allah inspired his mother to breastfeed him, and if worried, to throw him into the river in a chest - "Do not be afraid and do not be sad; surely We will return him to you and make him one of the messengers." The chest was collected by Pharaoh's family; Pharaoh's wife, Asiyah, begged that the baby not be killed. Allah forbade Moses from breastfeeding anyone other than his mother, until the mother was summoned to the palace as a wet nurse - Allah's promise was fulfilled.

Musa grew up in Pharaoh's palace with a strong body and a defender's soul. One day he helped a Bani Israelite and punched his opponent to death accidentally. He apologized and was forgiven, then left the city in fear. In Madyan he helped the two daughters of a pious old man water the livestock, then worked for eight to ten years as a dowry for her wedding. This is where Allah forges the future great leader with simplicity.

On his way home, Moses saw fire on the side of Mount Thur. There Allah spoke directly to him: "Indeed I am Allah, there is no god but Me, so worship Me and establish prayers to remember Me." His staff became a snake, his hands glowed white — two miracles to face Pharaoh. Musa begged: expand my chest, make things easier for me, remove the stiffness of my tongue, and make Harun my brother my servant. Allah grants everything.

Musa and Harun delivered the message with gentle words, but Pharaoh boasted, even claiming, "I am your most high god." He gathered wizards from all over the country. When their ropes and staffs seemed to be creeping by magic, God confirmed Moses: "Throw down your staff!" The stick swallowed all falsehood. The magicians — who knew best the limits of magic — immediately prostrated themselves: "We believe in the God of Aaron and Moses," and remained firm even though Pharaoh threatened to cut off their hands and feet and crucify them.

After years of warning verses and punishments (locusts, lice, frogs, blood) did not subdue Pharaoh, Allah ordered Moses to bring the Children of Israel out at night. On the seashore, Pharaoh's troops followed; his people panicked, "We are completely overtaken!" Musa answered with thrilling confidence: "Absolutely not! Surely my Lord is with me, He will give me guidance." The stick struck, the sea parted into dry paths. The Children of Israel crossed; Pharaoh and his army were drowned - and his body was saved by Allah as a sign for future generations.

Moses prayed for forty nights to receive the Torah. After his death, Samiri made a statue of a calf with a voice, and some people worshiped it - even though he had just been saved. Moses returned angry and sad, rebuked Aaron, burned the statue, and ordered his people to repent. The journey of the Children of Israel was then filled with defiance: they refused to enter the holy land ("Go with your God, and fight, both of you"), until they were sentenced to be lost for forty years in the fields of Tih.

When asked who was the most knowledgeable human being, Musa answered himself — so Allah rebuked him and sent him to study with a pious servant (Khidr) at the meeting of the two seas. Three events — making a hole in a boat, killing a child, erecting a wall without reward — teach that behind seemingly bad fate there is wisdom unknown to humans. "And above every owner of knowledge there is someone who knows better."

Moses is the prophet most mentioned in the Koran - a story of fighting against tyranny, leading a stubborn people, and continuing to learn despite his high position. Allah calls him kalimullah, who is spoken to directly. His story comforts every fighter for truth: no matter how great a tyranny collapses, and Allah never spares those who say, "Indeed, my God is with me."

Pharaoh acted arbitrarily and slaughtered every baby boy of the Children of Israel. When Moses was born, God inspired his mother to breastfeed and then threw him in a river in a chest when worried — "and do not be afraid or sad, surely We will return him to you and make him one of the messengers." In fact, the chest was collected by Pharaoh's family, and according to Allah's will, Moses was returned to breastfeed with his own mother, so that his mother's heart would be calm.

After growing up and being given wisdom, Moses entered the city and found two people fighting—one from his people and one from his enemy. He punched the enemy defender until he died accidentally, then regretted and said forgiveness, "O my Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me." When the officials planned to kill him, he ran to Madyan, helped two women water the livestock, then was married to one of them by an old sheikh (called by some scholars as Nabi Syu'aib) with a dowry of eight to ten years' work.

On his way home, Musa saw fire on the slopes of Mount Thur. In the sacred valley of Thuwa, Allah spoke directly to him, "Indeed I am Allah, there is no god but Me, so worship Me and establish prayers to remember Me." Two signs were given: a staff that turned into a snake, and a hand that glowed flawless white. Musa was sent to Pharaoh who had exceeded his limits, and asked that his brother Harun be appointed as his helper.

Moses and Harun conveyed the truth with gentle words, but Pharaoh claimed to be the supreme god. He gathers witches on holidays. They threw ropes and sticks that seemed to crawl; Musa threw his staff and instantly swallowed all their magic. The wizards immediately fell down prostrate, "We believe in the God of the worlds, the God of Moses and Aaron." Pharaoh threatened to crucify them, but faith had sunk into their hearts.

Allah brought signs to Pharaoh's people: drought, lack of fruit, typhoons, locusts, fleas, frogs, and blood - but they still denied it. Finally Allah ordered Moses to take the Children of Israel out at night. Pharaoh and his army chased him until they were caught on the edge of the sea. When the Children of Israel were anxious, Musa said confidently, "Never will they be overtaken; indeed my Lord is with me, He will guide me."

God revealed that Moses should strike the sea with his staff; The sea was split into dry paths, each split was like a big mountain. The Children of Israel crossed safely, while Pharaoh and his soldiers drowned when the water came back together. At the moment of his death, Fir'aun said he had faith, but it was too late: "What now, even though you have been disobedient for a long time?" His body was saved by God as a lesson for future generations.

Moses was called to pray forty nights. He asked to see God, "O my Lord, show yourself to me." God answered, "You will not be able to see Me, but look at the mountain." When Allah revealed His majesty to the mountain, the mountain collapsed and Moses fell unconscious. He was given tablets (Torah) containing teachings and details of everything, as well as orders for his people to adhere to it as firmly as possible.

During Musa's absence, Samiri made a calf statue out of gold ornaments that could make sounds, and the Children of Israel worshiped it. Harun had warned, but they did not heed it. Musa returned angry and sad, rebuked Harun and then punished Samiri. The people were ordered to repent seriously. This incident shows how quickly hearts turn when left without guidance, and how much Harun maintains the unity of the people.

Moses was shown that above his knowledge there was knowledge that Allah taught to other servants. He traveled to find Khidhir at the meeting of the two seas. Khidhir made a hole in a boat, killed a child, and erected a wall without reward - actions that seemed odd, until they were finally interpreted: they were all hidden blessings. This story teaches humility even for Rasul Ulul Azmi, and that Allah's wisdom is often not immediately visible.

Musa was Kalimullah, who spoke directly to Allah, the leader of the monotheistic struggle against the greatest tyrants. The story teaches courage to uphold the truth in the face of power, patience in facing stubborn people, and that God's help comes precisely when the road seems dead end. Allah praised his position, "And I have chosen you for Myself."

It is narrated in an authentic hadith that the angel of death came to Moses, then Moses asked Allah to bring him closer to the holy land within a stone's throw. Rasulullah ﷺ said, if he were there, he would definitely show me the grave of Musa on the side of the road near the red sand dunes. Musa died after completing his treatise, leaving behind the Torah and leadership which was then continued by Yusya' bin Nun.
