Episode 6: When Ibrahim Sought to Set His Heart at Ease

โณ Audio is being processed โ€” you can listen online for now.
Ibrahim, the close friend of Allah, once asked for something not out of doubt but so that his heart might be more at ease. He said, "My Lord, show me how You give life to the dead." Allah asked, "Do you not believe?" Ibrahim answered, "Yes, but [I ask] so that my heart may be satisfied" (2:260). Allah said, "Then take four birds and incline them toward yourself [and cut them up], then place a portion of them on each hill, then call them; they will come to you in haste" (2:260). Ibrahim did so, and by Allah's leave the portions of the birds came together and lived, then hurried back to him. So Allah closed the verse: "And know that Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise" (2:260). Reflection: even a noble prophet like Ibrahim wished to strengthen his certainty by witnessing directly. This teaches that faith can keep growing โ€” and that reflecting on the signs of Allah's power is a path to a tranquil heart.
