Episode 1: Ilyasa, Preferred Over the Worlds

Prophet Ilyasa (Elisha) is among Allah's chosen servants whose name is immortalized in the Qur'an, even though the story of his struggle is not told in detail. He is mentioned alongside noble prophets and given a high favor. Allah said, "And Isma'il and Al-Yasa' and Yunus and Lut โ and all [of them] We preferred over the worlds" (Qur'an 6:86). Notice the great praise in this verse: "We preferred [them] over the worlds." Such favor (tafdil) Allah grants only to servants He chooses and entrusts with a message. Naming Ilyasa in a single line with Isma'il, Yunus, and Lut shows his high standing before Allah. This verse sits within a long passage of Surah Al-An'am (verses 83-86) that names more than a dozen prophets in succession โ Ibrahim and his descendants, then others โ as proof that guidance and prophethood are a favor Allah bequeaths through the line of the righteous. Reflection: a servant's worth is not measured by the length of his story, but by the favor Allah attaches to him. Ilyasa teaches that it is honor enough when Allah Himself praises a person and raises his rank.
