Has told us [Abul Walid] he said, Has told us [Abu Awanah] from [Abdul Malik] -namely Ibn Umair- from [Ibnu Abul Mu'alla] from [his father], that one day the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam gave a sermon, he said: "There was a man who was given the choice by his Rabb Azza wa jalla to choose between living in the world as he pleases and living in it as he pleases, or met his Rabb. Then he chose to meet his Rabb." Abu Al Mu'ala said, "Then Abu Bakr cried until the companions of Rasulullah sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam asked, "Aren't you surprised by this old man (because of his crying)? In fact, Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam only told about a pious man who was told by his Rabb to choose between meeting his Rabb or choosing to live in the world, then he chose to meet his Rabb -Abu Bakr was the person who most understood the meaning of the words of Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam among his companions-." Then Abu Bakr said: "In fact, we will redeem you with our wealth and children, O Messenger of Allah." So Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam said: "There is no one among humans who has more faith in us with his friendship and what he has given than the faith of Ibn Abu Qahaafah (Abu Bakr), if I could choose a khalil (lover) I would certainly choose Ibn Abu Qahaafah. However, what exists is love and brothers in faith, but what exists is love and brothers in faith -he said this twice-. (Derajat: shahih.
