Episode 6: The Migration and Allah's Aid in the Cave

When the hostility of the Quraysh reached its peak and they conspired to kill Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Allah commanded him to migrate to Madinah. He set out with his loyal companion Abu Bakar (RA). On the way, the two hid in the Cave of Thawr while the Quraysh pursuers reached the very mouth of the cave. In that critical moment, Allah sent down calm. Allah immortalized this event: "…when those who disbelieved had driven him out [as] one of two, when they were in the cave and he said to his companion, 'Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us.' And Allah sent down His tranquility upon him and supported him with soldiers you did not see…" (Qur'an 9:40). The words "Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us" became one of the greatest expressions of reliance upon Allah in history. The Prophet ﷺ then reached Madinah to a joyful welcome, and there the first Muslim society was built: a mosque was established, the Muhajirin and Ansar were joined in brotherhood, and a charter of communal life was set in place. Reflection: the migration was not flight but strategy and obedience that bore the fruit of Allah's aid. When a servant truly relies on Allah, He suffices him — even two unarmed men were guarded from an army hunting them.
