كتاب «رحلة ابن فضلان إلى بلاد الترك والروس والصقالبة» هو نص رحليّ جغرافيّ يقدّم رسالة ابن فضلان، وهو موالي للفتح العباسي، يصف فيها مهمته الدبلوماسية إلى أراضي السلافيين على ضفاف الفولغا. يشتمل الكتاب على مقدمة واستهلال ومسار الرحلة، ويتناول ملاحظاته عن العجم والأتراك والروس والصقالبة، إضافة إلى فهارس وملاحق توثّق تفاصيل المسار والبعثة. يُصنّف ضمن أدب البلدان والجغرافيا والرحلات، ويُعدّ مصدرًا تاريخيًا يسلّط الضوء على العلاقات العربية مع الشعوب السلافية في القرن الرابع الهجري.
Translation
The book “Ibn Fadlan’s Journey to the Lands of the Turks, Russians, and Saqlabis” is a geographical travel text that presents the message of Ibn Fadlan, who was loyal to the Abbasid conquest, in which he describes his diplomatic mission to the Slavic lands on the banks of the Volga. The book includes an introduction, beginning, and itinerary of the journey, and deals with his observations about the Persians, Turks, Russians, and Saqlabis, in addition to indexes and appendices documenting the details of the itinerary and the mission. It is classified as the literature of countries, geography, and travel, and is considered a historical source that sheds light on Arab relations with the Slavic peoples in the fourth century AH.
