صورة الأرض والمعروف كذلك باسم المسالك والممالك هو كتاب في الجغرافيا والرحلات ألَّفه الرحالة التاجر أبو القاسم محمد بن حوقل إثر رحلاته التي انطلقت سنة 331 هـ. متأثرًا بالإصطخري الذي طلب منه إتمام كتاب المسالك والممالك، الأمر الذي وافق عليه بدايةً إلا أنه لاحقًا آثر تأليف كتاب جديد معتمدًا فيه على كتاب الإصطخري وجغرافيين آخرين، إضافة إلى مشاهداته والمعلومات التي استقاها من رحلاته، فجاءت مادة الكتاب معروضةً عرضًا دقيقًا مفصلًا. وإلى جانب المعلومات الجغرافية، احتوى الكتاب كذلك على مجموعة من العلوم، كالتاريخ والسير، كما أنَّ بعض الفصول وردت على شكل دليل سياحي. …
Translation
The Picture of the Earth, also known as Paths and Kingdoms, is a book on geography and travel written by the traveler and merchant Abu al-Qasim Muhammad bin Hawqal following his travels that began in the year 331 AH. Influenced by Al-Istakhri, who asked him to complete the book Paths and Kingdoms, which he initially agreed to, but later he chose to write a new book based on the book by Al-Istakhri and other geographers, in addition to his observations and the information he gleaned from his travels, so the material of the book was presented in an accurate and detailed presentation.
