كتاب "فهرسة ابن خير الإشبيلي" هو فهرسة جامعة لروايات الشيوخ وتواليفهم، جمعها المؤلف أبو بكر محمد بن خير بن عمر بن خليفة، ورتبها على أبواب تشمل مختلف فنون العلم. يبدأ الكتاب بذكر الموطآت والمصنفات المسندة، ثم يتناول كتب الحديث والسنن والمسانيد، ويمتد ليشمل كتب الفقه على مذهب مالك، وكتب الزهد والرقائق، والآداب واللغات، وغير ذلك من التصنيفات. وقد افتتح المؤلف كتابه بمقدمة ذكر فيها سنده في حديث عن العلم، مؤكدًا على أهمية العلم النافع بالقلب.

Translation

The book “Index of Ibn Khair al-Ishbili” is a comprehensive index of the narrations of the sheikhs and their compositions, compiled by the author Abu Bakr Muhammad bin Khair bin Omar bin Khalifa, and arranged them into sections that include the various arts of science. The book begins by mentioning the Muwatta’at and the Musnad compilations, then it deals with the books of Hadith, Sunans, and Musnads, and extends to include books of jurisprudence according to Malik’s doctrine, books of asceticism and subtleties, literature and languages, and other classifications. The author opened his book with an introduction in which he mentioned his chain of transmission in a hadith about knowledge, stressing the importance of knowledge that is beneficial to the heart.
