المخصص كتاب ضخم لابن سِيْدَه المُرسيّ. من كنوز المعارف العربية، مرتب على المعاني. أفرغ فيه ابن سيده مواد معجمه المسمى: (المحكم). ليس في مكتبات العالم منه سوى نسخة فريدة، هي النسخة المغربية العتيقة، التي كانت بالكتبخانة الأميرية المصرية، واعتمدها الشنقيطي في طبعته. (المطبعة الأميرية بمصر 1901م في خمسة مجلدات). وقال في تقريظه للكتاب: (أحسن ديوان من دواوين اللغة العربية، وأحق كتاب بأن يرحل في طلبه من أراد السبق في الفضل. وكفى مؤلفه هذا الصنيع الجميل الذي لم يسمح الدهر ولا يسمح له بمثيل... إذ جمع فيه ما تكلمت به العرب في كل جليل ودقيق... …

Translation

Al-Mukhāsās is a huge book by the son of his master Al-Mursi. One of the treasures of Arabic knowledge, arranged according to its meanings. Ibn Sayyidah included the materials of his dictionary called: (Al-Muhkam). There is only a unique copy of it in the world's libraries, which is the ancient Moroccan copy, which was in the Egyptian princely library, and which Al-Shanqeeti adopted in his edition. (The Princely Press in Egypt, 1901 AD, in five volumes). He said in his appreciation of the book: “The best collection of collections in the Arabic language, and the book most worthy of being sought after by those who want to excel in excellence. Enough of its author is this beautiful deed that time did not permit and does not permit to be equaled... as he collected in it what the Arabs spoke in every sublime and precise manner... ...
