كتاب "الزهد" لابن أبي الدنيا هو مصنف في التزكية والرقائق، يجمع أحاديث نبوية وآثارًا عن السلف في ذم الدنيا والحث على الزهد فيها. يضم الكتاب مرويات متصلة الأسانيد تبدأ ببيان هوان الدنيا على الله، وتصفها بأنها سجن المؤمن وجنة الكافر، وتعدد مساوئ حبها وملذاتها الزائلة. يهدف المؤلف من خلال هذه النصوص إلى تذكير القارئ بقصر الأمل والاستعداد للآخرة، معتمدًا على الأحاديث النبوية وأقوال الصحابة والتابعين.
Translation
The book “Asceticism” by Ibn Abi Al-Dunya is a book on purification and subtleties, which collects prophetic hadiths and traditions from the predecessors denouncing the world and urging asceticism in it. The book includes connected narrations that begin with an explanation of the humiliation of the world before God, describing it as a prison for the believer and a paradise for the infidel, and enumerating the disadvantages of its love and its fleeting pleasures. Through these texts, the author aims to remind the reader of the shortness of hope and preparation for the afterlife, relying on the hadiths of the Prophet and the sayings of the companions and followers.
