كتاب أسامي من روى عنهم محمد بن إسماعيل البخاري للكاتب ابن عدي يندرج ضمن التراجم والطبقات، يهدف إلى جمع أسماء المشايخ الذين رواهم الإمام البخاري في صحيحه مع بيان أصولهم وأنسابهم ومواقعهم الجغرافية. يُرتب المحتوى حسب حروف المعجم، فتُفصل كل حرف ببيانات عن كل اسم من حيث مولده وصفته ومناقبه وعلمه وما يُعرف عنه من أخبار. يعتمد المؤلف على روايات وشهادات معاصرة لتقديم لمحة عن شخصية كل مشيخ ومستوى علمه وزهده. يختتم الكتاب بذكر تفاصيل إضافية عن بعض الأسماء وفق ترتيب الحروف.
