الاستيعاب في معرفة الأصحاب هو كتاب في ترجمة الصحابة، ألفه الحافظ أبو عمر يوسف بن عبد الله النمري المعروف بابن عبد البر (368-463)، يعتبر الكتاب من أوائل الكتب التي ألفت في الصحابة، وكان منهج المؤلف في كتابه أن كان يذكر الصحابي ومن روى عنه، وشيئا ممن روى عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وبعض أمور تتعلق به ووفاته وعمره. جمع فيه ابن عبد البر ما استطاع جمعه عن صحابة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم. وقد ذكر ابن عبد البر في مقدمة كتابه الاستيعاب ما يلي: وقد أثنى ابن حزم الأندلسي على مجموع مؤلفات شيخه ابن عبد البر عامة، في معرض حديثه عن فضائل الأندلس، منوِّهًا خاصة بكتابه الاستيعاب قائلا:

Translation

Al-Isti’ab fi Ma’rifat al-Ashab is a book about translating the Companions, written by Al-Hafiz Abu Omar Yusuf bin Abdullah al-Nimri, known as Ibn Abd al-Barr (368-463). The book is considered one of the first books written about the Companions. The author’s approach in his book was to mention the Companion and those who narrated from him, and something from those who narrated on the authority of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and some matters related to him, his death, and his lifespan. Ibn Abd al-Barr collected in it what he was able to collect from the Companions of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. Ibn Abd al-Barr mentioned the following in the introduction to his book Al-Isti'abah: Ibn Hazm Al-Andalusi praised the collection of the works of his sheikh Ibn Abd al-Barr in general, in his talk about the virtues of Al-Andalus, and specifically praised his book Al-Isti'abah, saying:
