Translation

Al-Muqtana fi Narrat al-Kunya by al-Dhahabi Shams al-Din is a tragic and applied work that specializes in explaining the nicknames of the narrators and clarifying their identity between the name and the nickname, and it relies on reviewing manuscripts and checking translations. The book is divided into two parts, which include an introduction, a chapter that explains the scholars’ interest in nicknames, and a chapter that explains the works on nicknames, in addition to a description of the manuscript versions and the investigation process, and the content is arranged according to the letters of the alphabet. The author aims to revive this important science to serve researchers in the field of Sunnah and Hadith.
