هذا الكتاب هو تراجم وأخبار لشخصيات عديدة من العلماء والأمراء في العصر المملوكي، يتناول سيرهم وأعمالهم ووقائع حياتهم، مقدماً نظرة شاملة لزمنهم وثقافتهم. المؤلف ابن تغري بردي يعرض هذه الشخصيات بأسلوب أدبي رصين، مستعرضاً أحداثاً تاريخية مهمة في سياق سير هؤلاء الرجال، معتمداً في ذلك على معلوماته الواسعة من كتب التواريخ والمصادر التاريخية المتاحة له.
Translation
This book is biographies and chronicles of many personalities of scholars and princes in the Mamluk era. It deals with their biographies, works, and the facts of their lives, providing a comprehensive overview of their time and culture. The author, Ibn Taghri Bardi, presents these characters in a sober literary style, reviewing important historical events in the context of the lives of these men, relying in this on his extensive information from the history books and historical sources available to him.
