تهذيب الأسماء واللغات كتاب في اللغة والتراجم، ولغة الفقه، مؤلفه يحيى بن شرف النووي (631هـ-676هـ) يبحث في الألفاظ والمباحث اللغوية وتراجم الأعلام في مختصر أبي إبراهيم المزني والمهذب والتنبيه والوسيط والوجيز والروضة مختصر شرح الوجيز. يذكر الأسماء المترجم لهم: الذكور وفيه ثمانية أبواب، في الإناث وفيه سبعة أبواب، ورتب الجميع على حروف المعجم. اللغات: رتبها على حروف المعجم عند ترجمته للشخص يذكر موضعه في الكتب الستة وعدد مروياته إن كان له رواية، وعدد ما له في الصحيحين، وما له من غرائب المسائل المروية عنه وخاصة في باب الفقه.

Translation

Tahdheeb al-Asma wa al-Lughat is a book on language, translations, and the language of jurisprudence. Its author is Yahya bin Sharaf al-Nawawi (631 AH-676 AH). He examines words, linguistic investigations, and biographies of notable figures in the Mukhtasar of Abu Ibrahim al-Muzani, al-Muhadhdhab, al-Tanbih, al-Waseet, al-Wajeez, and al-Rawdah, the summary of the explanation of al-Wajeez. The names translated for them are mentioned: males, which has eight chapters, females, which has seven chapters, and they are all arranged according to the letters of the dictionary. Languages: Arrange them according to the letters of the dictionary. When translating a person, he mentions his place in the six books, the number of his narrations if he has a narration, the number of his narrations in the two Sahihs, and the oddities of the issues narrated about him, especially in the field of jurisprudence.
