معجم المؤلفين لعمر رضا كحالة هو معجم تراجم يختص بمصنّفي الكتب العربية والعجم منذ بدء تدوين الكتب حتى العصر الحاضر، يذكر أسمائهم، ألقابهم، تواريخ ولادتهم ووفاتهم بالهجري والميلادي، اختصاصاتهم العلمية ومؤلفاتهم مع الإشارة إلى مصادرها المخطوطة والمطبوعة. يُرتّب المحتوى حسب الحروف الأبجدية العربية من باب الهمزة إلى باب الياء، ويتضمن مقدمة ومستدركاً يضيف ما توفّر من معلومات إضافية. يعتمد المؤلف في تجميعه على مصادر عربية وأجنبية سعيًا إلى تحقيق الدقة والموضوعية.

Translation

The Dictionary of Authors by Omar Reda Kahala is a biographical dictionary that specializes in compilers of Arabic and non-Arab books from the beginning of writing down books until the present era. It mentions their names, surnames, dates of birth and death in the Hijri and Gregorian calendar, their scientific specializations, and their works, with reference to their manuscript and printed sources. The content is arranged according to the letters of the Arabic alphabet, from Bab al-Hamza to Bab al-Yā’, and includes an introduction and a follow-up that adds any additional information available. In its compilation, the author relies on Arab and foreign sources in an effort to achieve accuracy and objectivity.
