Translation

This is a treatise on the science of history and the method of historical criticism, placed by the author Taj al-Din al-Subki within the classification of Hadith sciences. In it, he explains that historians may fall into slander or non-objective modification due to fanaticism, ignorance, or reliance on unreliable transmission, and he states that fanaticism is greater among historians than among those who criticize and modify. Then he imposes four conditions regarding what the historian transmits, and four others regarding what he translates on his own, so that his transmission and translation are acceptable and considered.
