Translation

This book, “Nuzhat al-Ain al-Nawazir fi the Science of Faces and Analogies,” by Imam Ibn al-Jawzi, deals with the subject of the science of faces and counterparts in the Holy Qur’an, which is a branch of the science of jurisprudence. The book aims to clarify the different meanings intended for a single word mentioned in different places in the Qur’an, while preserving its pronunciation and vowels, while its interpretations and connotations differ. The book also addresses the efforts made by previous scholars in this field, and points out the importance of understanding these aspects and counterparts to derive the correct meanings from the Qur’anic texts.
