A summary of the principles of jurisprudence according to the doctrine of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal

Al-Mukhtasar fi Usul al-Fiqh is a brief book on the fundamentals of the jurisprudence of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, written by al-Hafiz Ibn al-Lahham (752-803). He wrote it explaining its symbols and mysteries, but without delving into the reasoning and evidence, with reference to what had occurred in it of disagreement or consensus on some issues. He arranged the book in the order of books on the science of jurisprudence, and answered some of the questions he received about this science. Al-Hafiz Ibn al-Laham said in the introduction to the book:
