أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ قَالَ سُئِلَ الْقَاسِمُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ قَدْ سَمَّاهُ فَقَالَ مَا أَضْطَرُّ إِلَى مَشُورَةٍ وَمَا أَنَا مِنْ ذَا فِي شَيْءٍ
Saeed bin Amir told us on the authority of Ibn Aoun. He said: Al-Qasim was asked about something that he had named, and he said: I am not forced to seek advice, and I am not in charge of anything.
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى قَالَ قُلْتُ لِلْقَاسِمِ مَا أَشَدَّ عَلَيَّ أَنْ تُسْأَلَ عَنْ الشَّيْءِ لَا يَكُونُ عِنْدَكَ وَقَدْ كَانَ أَبُوكَ إِمَامًا قَالَ إِنَّ أَشَدَّ مِنْ ذَلِكَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَعِنْدَ مَنْ عَقَلَ عَنْ اللَّهِ أَنْ أُفْتِيَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ أَوْ أَرْوِيَ عَنْ غَيْرِ ثِقَةٍ
Muhammad ibn Kathir informed us on the authority of Sufyan ibn Uyaynah, on the authority of Yahya, who said: I said to Al-Qasim: What is most difficult for me is that you should be asked about something that you do not have. Your father was an imam. He said, “What is worse than that in the sight of God and in the sight of one who is more rational than God is to give a fatwa without knowledge or to narrate without trust.”
أَخْبَرَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْمِنْقَرِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَوْمًا إِلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ لَا أَدْرِي مَا هُوَ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ لَا تَسْأَلْ عَمَّا لَمْ يَكُنْ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ يَلْعَنُ مَنْ سَأَلَ عَمَّا لَمْ يَكُنْ
Muslim bin Ibrahim told us, Hammad bin Yazid Al-Manqari told us, my father told me, he said: One day a man came to Ibn Umar and asked him about something. I do not know what it is, so Ibn Omar said to him, “Do not ask about what did not happen, for I heard Omar ibn Al-Khattab cursing whoever asked about what did not happen.”
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ كَانَ يَقُولُ إِذَا سُئِلَ عَنْ الْأَمْرِ أَكَانَ هَذَا فَإِنْ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَدْ كَانَ حَدَّثَ فِيهِ بِالَّذِي يَعْلَمُ وَالَّذِي يَرَى وَإِنْ قَالُوا لَمْ يَكُنْ قَالَ فَذَرُوهُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ
Al-Hakam bin Nafi’ informed us, Shu’ayb informed us on the authority of Al-Zuhri, he said: We were informed that Zayd bin Thabit Al-Ansari used to say, when he was asked about Whether the matter was this, then if they say yes, it happened, it was narrated by him who knows and he who sees, and if they say it did not happen, he said, then leave it until it happens.
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ عَنْ عَامِرٍ قَالَ سُئِلَ عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ عَنْ مَسْأَلَةٍ فَقَالَ هَلْ كَانَ هَذَا بَعْدُ قَالُوا لَا قَالَ دَعُونَا حَتَّى تَكُونَ فَإِذَا كَانَتْ تَجَشَّمْنَاهَا لَكُمْ
Ishaq bin Ibrahim told us, Abu Hisham Al-Makhzoumi told us, Wahib told us, Dawud told us, on the authority of Amer, he said: Ammar bin Yasser was asked: Concerning a question, he said, “Has this happened yet?” They said, “No.” He said, “Leave it until it is.” Then, if it is, we will prepare it for you.
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ طَاوُسٍ قَالَ قَالَ عُمَرُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ أُحَرِّجُ بِاللَّهِ عَلَى رَجُلٍ سَأَلَ عَمَّا لَمْ يَكُنْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ بَيَّنَ مَا هُوَ كَائِنٌ
Muhammad ibn Ahmad told us, Sufyan told us, on the authority of Amr, on the authority of Tawus, who said: Omar said on the pulpit: I am embarrassed by God for a man who asked about something that he did not Let it be, for God has made clear what is to be.
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ مَا رَأَيْتُ قَوْمًا كَانُوا خَيْرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا سَأَلُوهُ إِلَّا عَنْ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ مَسْأَلَةً حَتَّى قُبِضَ كُلُّهُنَّ فِي الْقُرْآنِ مِنْهُنَّ { يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنْ الشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ } { وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنْ الْمَحِيضِ } قَالَ مَا كَانُوا يَسْأَلُونَ إِلَّا عَمَّا يَنْفَعُهُمْ
Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Abi Shaybah told us, Ibn Fudayl told us, on the authority of Ata’, on the authority of Sa’id, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said, “I have not seen a people who were The best of the Companions of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, they did not ask him except about thirteen questions until all of them were captured in the Qur’an. They ask you about the sacred month. {And they ask you about menstruation.} He said: They were only asking about what would benefit them.
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ عَنْ عُمَيْرِ بْنِ إِسْحَقَ قَالَ لَمَنْ أَدْرَكْتُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَكْثَرُ مِمَّنْ سَبَقَنِي مِنْهُمْ فَمَا رَأَيْتُ قَوْمًا أَيْسَرَ سِيرَةً وَلَا أَقَلَّ تَشْدِيدًا مِنْهُمْ
Uthman ibn Umar told us, Ibn Aoun told us, on the authority of Umair ibn Ishaq, he said to those of the companions of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, whom I recognized More than those who came before me, and I have never seen a people whose conduct was easier or less strict than them.
أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ حُبَابٍ أَخْبَرَنِي رَجَاءُ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُبَادَةَ بْنَ نُسَيٍّ الْكِنْدِيَّ وَسُئِلَ عَنْ امْرَأَةٍ مَاتَتْ مَعَ قَوْمٍ لَيْسَ لَهَا وَلِيٌّ فَقَالَ أَدْرَكْتُ أَقْوَامًا مَا كَانُوا يُشَدِّدُونَ تَشْدِيدَكُمْ وَلَا يَسْأَلُونَ مَسَائِلَكُمْ
Al-Abbas bin Sufyan told me on the authority of Zaid bin Hubab. Raja bin Abi Salamah told me, he said: I heard Ubadah bin Nasi Al-Kindi and he was asked about A woman died with a people who had no guardian. He said, “I have come across people who were not as strict as you are and did not ask your questions.”
أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ أَخْبَرَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ حُبَابٍ أَخْبَرَنِي رَجَاءُ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنِي خَالِدُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الْقُرَشِيِّ قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ ابْنِ مُحَيْرِيزٍ بِمَرْجِ الدِّيبَاجِ فَرَأَيْتُ مِنْهُ خَلْوَةً فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ مَسْأَلَةٍ فَقَالَ لِي مَا تَصْنَعُ بِالْمَسَائِلِ قُلْتُ لَوْلَا الْمَسَائِلُ لَذَهَبَ الْعِلْمُ قَالَ لَا تَقُلْ ذَهَبَ الْعِلْمُ إِنَّهُ لَا يَذْهَبُ الْعِلْمُ مَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ وَلَكِنْ لَوْ قُلْتَ يَذْهَبُ الْفِقْهُ
Al-Abbas Ibn Sufyan informed us, Zaid Ibn Hubab informed us, Raja Ibn Abi Salamah informed me, Khalid Ibn Hazim informed me, on the authority of Hisham Ibn Muslim Al-Qurashi said: I was with Ibn Muhayriz in Marj Al-Debaj, and I saw him alone, so I asked him about a matter, and he said to me: “What do you do with matters?” I said: Were it not for the issues, knowledge would have disappeared. He said, “Do not say, ‘Knowledge has disappeared.’ Indeed, knowledge does not disappear as long as the Qur’an is recited. But if you say, ‘Jurisprudence disappears.’”
أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ أَنَّ عُمَرَ قَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا لَا نَدْرِي لَعَلَّنَا نَأْمُرُكُمْ بِأَشْيَاءَ لَا تَحِلُّ لَكُمْ وَلَعَلَّنَا نُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَشْيَاءَ هِيَ لَكُمْ حَلَالٌ إِنَّ آخِرَ مَا نَزَلَ مِنْ الْقُرْآنِ آيَةُ الرِّبَا وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يُبَيِّنْهَا لَنَا حَتَّى مَاتَ فَدَعُوا مَا يَرِيبُكُمْ إِلَى مَا لَا يَرِيبُكُمْ
Suleiman bin Harb told us, Hammad bin Salamah told us, on the authority of Dawud, on the authority of Ash-Shabi, that Omar said, “O people, we do not know. Perhaps we will give you a command.” With things that are not permissible for you, and perhaps We prohibit for you things that are permissible for you. Indeed, the last thing that was revealed from the Qur’an was the verse of usury, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace He did not make it clear to us until he died, so leave what doubts you for what does not doubt you.
أَخْبَرَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ عَمِّهِ قَالَ خَرَجْتُ مِنْ عِنْدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَاسْتَقْبَلَنِي حَمَّادٌ فَحَمَّلَنِي ثَمَانِيَةَ أَبْوَابٍ مَسَائِلَ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَأَجَابَنِي عَنْ أَرْبَعٍ وَتَرَكَ أَرْبَعًا
Salam bin Junada told us, Ibn Idris told us, on the authority of his uncle, he said: I left Ibrahim’s house, and Hammad met me and carried me eight times. Sections of questions. I asked him and he answered me about four and left out four.
أَخْبَرَنَا قَبِيصَةُ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبْجَرَ عَنْ زُبَيْدٍ قَالَ مَا سَأَلْتُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا عَرَفْتُ الْكَرَاهِيَةَ فِي وَجْهِهِ

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ قَالَ مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا أَكْثَرَ أَنْ يَقُولَ إِذَا سُئِلَ عَنْ شَيْءٍ لَا عِلْمَ لِي بِهِ مِنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ
Muhammad bin Ahmad told us, Ishaq bin Mansour told us, on the authority of Omar bin Abi Zaida, he said: I have never seen anyone say more when asked: About something I have no knowledge of from the popular
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ إِيَاسٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ مَا لَكَ لَا تَقُولُ فِي الطَّلَاقِ شَيْئًا قَالَ مَا مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ إِلَّا قَدْ سَأَلْتُ عَنْهُ وَلَكِنِّي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ أُحِلَّ حَرَامًا أَوْ أُحَرِّمَ حَلَالًا
Abdullah bin Saeed told us, Ahmad bin Bashir told us, Shu’bah told us, on the authority of Ja’far bin Iyas, he said: I said to Saeed bin Jubayr: What So do not say anything about divorce. He said, “There is nothing about it that I have not asked about, but I hate to make lawful what is forbidden or to make forbidden what is lawful.”
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى يَقُولُ لَقَدْ أَدْرَكْتُ فِي هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ عِشْرِينَ وَمِائَةً مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ وَمَا مِنْهُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ يُحَدِّثُ بِحَدِيثٍ إِلَّا وَدَّ أَنَّ أَخَاهُ كَفَاهُ الْحَدِيثَ وَلَا يُسْأَلُ عَنْ فُتْيَا إِلَّا وَدَّ أَنَّ أَخَاهُ كَفَاهُ الْفُتْيَا
Abu Nu`aym told us, Sufyan told us, on the authority of Ata’ ibn al-Sa’ib, he said: I heard Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Laila say, “I have realized this.” There are twenty and one hundred Ansar in the mosque, and not one of them narrates a hadith except that he wishes that his brother had sufficed him with narration and that he would not be asked for a fatwa. Unless he wished that his brother was enough of a youth
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ ابْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ قَالَ إِنَّ الْعَالِمَ يَدْخُلُ فِيمَا بَيْنَ اللَّهِ وَبَيْنَ عِبَادِهِ فَلْيَطْلُبْ لِنَفْسِهِ الْمَخْرَجَ
Ahmad ibn al-Hajjaj told us, saying: I heard Sufyan on the authority of Ibn al-Munkadir, who said: The scholar enters into what is between God and His servants, so let him ask. He has his own way out
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ قَالَ أَخْرَجَ إِلَيَّ مَعْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ كِتَابًا فَحَلَفَ لِي بِاللَّهِ إِنَّهُ خَطُّ أَبِيهِ فَإِذَا فِيهِ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَالَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا كَانَ أَشَدَّ عَلَى الْمُتَنَطِّعِينَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا كَانَ أَشَدَّ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَإِنِّي لَأَرَى عُمَرَ كَانَ أَشَدَّ خَوْفًا عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ لَهُمْ
Muhammad ibn Qudamah told us, Abu Usama told us on the authority of Mis’ar, he said: Ma’an ibn Abd al-Rahman sent me a letter, and he swore to me by God that it His father's handwriting, then, behold, in it, Abdullah said, "By the One whom there is no god but Him, I have not seen anyone who was more severe toward those who wear modesty than the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace." And I did not see anyone who was more severe for them than Abu Bakr, and I see Omar who was more fearful for them or for them.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا زَمْعَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَاضِرٍ الْأَزْدِيِّ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَقُلْتُ أَوْصِنِي فَقَالَ نَعَمْ عَلَيْكَ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ وَالِاسْتِقَامَةِ اتَّبِعْ وَلَا تَبْتَدِعْ
Abu Nu`aym told us, Zam`ah bin Salih told us, on the authority of Uthman bin Hadhir al-Azdi, he said: I entered upon Ibn Abbas and said, “Advise me,” and he said, “Yes.” You must fear God and be upright. Follow and do not innovate.
أَخْبَرَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا أَزْهَرُ عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ مَا دَامَ عَلَى الْأَثَرِ فَهُوَ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ
Yusuf bin Musa told us, Azhar told us, on the authority of Ibn Aoun, on the authority of Ibn Sirin, who said, “As long as he is on the path, he is on the path.”
