Episode 1: The Birth and Youth of the Trustworthy One

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was born in Makkah in the Year of the Elephant, of the noble line of Banu Hashim of the Quraysh. His father, Abdullah, died before his birth, and his mother, Aminah, died while he was still a child. So he grew up an orphan, cared for by his grandfather Abd al-Muttalib, then his uncle Abu Talib. The Qur'an alludes gently to this time: "Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge? And He found you lost and guided [you]. And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient" (Qur'an 93:6-8). From his youth he was known as honest and trustworthy, so his people named him "Al-Amin" (the trustworthy). He kept away from the idol-worship and evil common in the age of ignorance, herding sheep and then trading with a famed honesty. When a dispute arose over who had the right to set the Black Stone in place, the Quraysh entrusted it to Muhammad ﷺ — proof of his standing in their hearts even before prophethood. Reflection: Allah prepared His chosen servant through direct nurturing — an orphanhood that grew tenderness, an honesty that became the capital of da'wah, and protection from the filth of ignorance. The nobility of his character was clear long before revelation descended.
