أَخْبَرَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ كُنْتُ آتِي بَابَ عُرْوَةَ فَأَجْلِسُ بِالْبَابِ وَلَوْ شِئْتُ أَنْ أَدْخُلَ لَدَخَلْتُ وَلَكِنْ إِجْلَالًا لَهُ

Bishr ibn al-Hakam told us, Abd al-Razzaq told us, Muammar told us, on the authority of al-Zuhri, he said: I used to come to the door of Urwa and sit at the door if I wanted. If I entered, I would have entered, but out of respect for him.

أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُلْتُ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ يَا فُلَانُ هَلُمَّ فَلْنَسْأَلْ أَصْحَابَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَإِنَّهُمْ الْيَوْمَ كَثِيرٌ فَقَالَ وَا عَجَبًا لَكَ يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَتَرَى النَّاسَ يَحْتَاجُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَفِي النَّاسِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ تَرَى فَتَرَكَ ذَلِكَ وَأَقْبَلْتُ عَلَى الْمَسْأَلَةِ فَإِنْ كَانَ لَيَبْلُغُنِي الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ الرَّجُلِ فَآتِيهِ وَهُوَ قَائِلٌ فَأَتَوَسَّدُ رِدَائِي عَلَى بَابِهِ فَتَسْفِي الرِّيحُ عَلَى وَجْهِي التُّرَابَ فَيَخْرُجُ فَيَرَانِي فَيَقُولُ يَا ابْنَ عَمِّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ مَا جَاءَ بِكَ أَلَا أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيَّ فَآتِيَكَ فَأَقُولُ لَا أَنَا أَحَقُّ أَنْ آتِيَكَ فَأَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ الْحَدِيثِ قَالَ فَبَقِيَ الرَّجُلُ حَتَّى رَآنِي وَقَدْ اجْتَمَعَ النَّاسُ عَلَيَّ فَقَالَ كَانَ هَذَا الْفَتَى أَعْقَلَ مِنِّي

Yazid bin Harun told us, Jarir bin Hazim told us, on the authority of Ali bin Hakim, on the authority of Ikrimah, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said, when the Messenger of God died May God’s prayers and peace be upon him. I said to a man from the Ansar, “So-and-so, come, let us ask the companions of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, for there are many of them today.” He said, “What a wonder, O Ibn Abbas. Do you see that the people need you, and among the people among the companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, who do you think neglected that?” And I accepted the question, and if it was to convey to me the hadith of the man, then I would go to him and he would say, “So I would lay my cloak on his door, and the wind would blow over me.” My face is dust, so he comes out and sees me and says, O cousin of the Messenger of God, he has not brought you. Have you not sent for me and I will come to you? I say, No, I have more right to come to you. So I asked him about the hadith. He said, “Then the man stayed until he saw me, and the people had gathered around me, and he said, ‘This boy was wiser than me.’”

أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ حَدَّثَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مَنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَحَلَ إِلَى فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ وَهُوَ بِمِصْرَ فَقَدِمَ عَلَيْهِ وَهُوَ يَمُدُّ لِنَاقَةٍ لَهُ فَقَالَ مَرْحَبًا قَالَ أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ آتِكَ زَائِرًا وَلَكِنْ سَمِعْتُ أَنَا وَأَنْتَ حَدِيثًا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجَوْتُ أَنْ يَكُونَ عِنْدَكَ مِنْهُ عِلْمٌ قَالَ مَا هُوَ قَالَ كَذَا وَكَذَا

Yazid bin Harun told us, Al-Jariri told us on the authority of Abdullah bin Buraidah, that a man from the companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, traveled to Fadalah bin Ubaid, while he was in Egypt, came to him and was offering a camel of his, and he said, “Welcome.” He said, “I did not come to you as a visitor, but I heard And you are a hadith from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. I hope that you have knowledge of him. He said what it is. He said such-and-such.

أَخْبَرَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ جَمِيلٍ عَنْ حُسَامٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ لَا يَشْتَرِي مِمَّنْ يَعْرِفُهُ

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ الْمُزَنِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ قَسَمَ مُصْعَبُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ مَالًا فِي قُرَّاءِ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ حِينَ دَخَلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ فَبَعَثَ إِلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ بِأَلْفَيْ دِرْهَمٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ اسْتَعِنْ بِهَا فِي شَهْرِكَ هَذَا فَرَدَّهَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَعْقِلٍ وَقَالَ لَمْ نَقْرَأْ الْقُرْآنَ لِهَذَا

Muhammad bin Saeed told us, Abdul Salam told us, on the authority of Abdullah bin Al-Walid Al-Muzani, on the authority of Ubaid bin Al-Hasan, Musab bin swore. أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ زَيْدٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ مَا أَوَى شَيْءٌ إِلَى شَيْءٍ أَزْيَنَ مِنْ حِلْمٍ إِلَى عِلْمٍ

Muhammad ibn Ahmad informed us, Sufyan ibn Uyaynah informed us, on the authority of Zaid, on the authority of Ata’, who said: “Nothing has ever been more beautiful than a dream to knowledge.”

أَخْبَرَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ زَيْنُ الْعِلْمِ حِلْمُ أَهْلِهِ

Affan told us, Hammad bin Salamah told us, Asim Al-Ahwal told us, on the authority of Amer Al-Shaabi, who said, “The beauty of knowledge is the dream of its people.”

أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا زَمْعَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ وَهْرَامٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ قَالَ مَا حُمِلَ الْعِلْمُ فِي مِثْلِ جِرَابِ حِلْمٍ

Yaqoub bin Ibrahim told us, Abd al-Rahman told us, Zum’ah bin Salih told us, on the authority of Salamah bin Wahram, on the authority of Tawoos, who said: He did not carry knowledge. In the likeness of a dream

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ أَخْبَرَنَا مُطَرِّفُ بْنُ مَازِنٍ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ مِقْسَمٍ عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ قَالَ إِنَّ الْحِكْمَةَ تَسْكُنُ الْقَلْبَ الْوَادِعَ السَّاكِنَ

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ يَقُولُ قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ شِنْتُمْ الْعِلْمَ وَأَذْهَبْتُمْ نُورَهُ وَلَوْ أَدْرَكَنِي وَإِيَّاكُمْ عُمَرُ لَأَوْجَعَنَا

Muhammad ibn Ahmad informed us, he said: I heard Sufyan say: Ubayd Allah said: You have distorted knowledge and taken away its light, even if Omar were to overtake me and you. It would hurt us

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ قَالَ مَنْ ضَحِكَ ضَحْكَةً مَجَّ مَجَّةً مِنْ الْعِلْمِ

Muhammad bin Humayd told us, Jarir told us, on the authority of Al-Fudayl bin Ghazwan, on the authority of Ali bin Husayn, who said: Whoever laughs a lot of laughter Science

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ أَنَّ عُمَرَ قَالَ لِكَعْبٍ مَنْ أَرْبَابُ الْعِلْمِ قَالَ الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ بِمَا يَعْلَمُونَ قَالَ فَمَا أَخْرَجَ الْعِلْمَ مِنْ قُلُوبِ الْعُلَمَاءِ قَالَ الطَّمَعُ

Muhammad ibn Yusuf informed us on the authority of Sufyan that Omar said to Ka`b, “Among the masters of knowledge.” He said, “Those who act according to what they know.” He said, “And what he reported?” Knowledge is from the hearts of scholars, greed said.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ نَازِلًا عَلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ فَأَتَاهُ رَسُولُ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ حِينَ حَضَرَهُ رَمَضَانُ بِأَلْفَيْ دِرْهَمٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ الْأَمِيرَ يُقْرِئُكَ السَّلَامَ وَقَالَ إِنَّا لَمْ نَدَعْ قَارِئًا شَرِيفًا إِلَّا وَقَدْ وَصَلَ إِلَيْهِ مِنَّا مَعْرُوفٌ فَاسْتَعِنْ بِهَذَيْنِ عَلَى نَفَقَةِ شَهْرِكَ هَذَا فَقَالَ أَقْرِئْ الْأَمِيرَ السَّلَامَ وَقُلْ لَهُ إِنَّا وَاللَّهِ مَا قَرَأْنَا الْقُرْآنَ نُرِيدُ بِهِ الدُّنْيَا وَدِرْهَمَهَا

Ahmad ibn Humayd informed us, Muhammad ibn Bishr informed us, Abdullah ibn al-Walid informed us, on the authority of Umar ibn Ayyub, on the authority of Abu Iyas, he said: I was Coming down to Amr ibn al-Numan, the messenger of Musaab ibn al-Zubayr came to him when Ramadan attended him with two thousand dirhams and said, “The prince extends his greetings to you.” We have not called an honorable reader unless a favor has reached him from us, so seek help from these two at your expense this month. So he said, Convey your greetings to the prince and say By God, we have not read the Qur’an intending with it the world and its dirhams.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ عَنْ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ الْكِنْدِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَرَّمَ أَشْيَاءَ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ الْحِمَارَ وَغَيْرَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَيُوشِكُ بِالرَّجُلِ مُتَّكِئًا عَلَى أَرِيكَتِهِ يُحَدَّثُ بِحَدِيثِي فَيَقُولُ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ كِتَابُ اللَّهِ مَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهِ مِنْ حَلَالٍ اسْتَحْلَلْنَاهُ وَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهِ مِنْ حَرَامٍ حَرَّمْنَاهُ أَلَا وَإِنَّ مَا حَرَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ هُوَ مِثْلُ مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ

Asad bin Musa told us, Muawiyah told us, Al-Hasan bin Jabir told us, on the authority of Al-Miqdam bin Maadi Karb Al-Kindi, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace He, peace and blessings of God be upon him, forbade things on the Day of Khaybar from the donkey and other things. أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَقَ الْفَزَارِيِّ عَنْ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ السُّنَّةُ قَاضِيَةٌ عَلَى الْقُرْآنِ وَلَيْسَ الْقُرْآنُ بِقَاضٍ عَلَى السُّنَّةِ

Muhammad bin Uyaynah informed us on the authority of Abu Ishaq Al-Fazari, on the authority of Al-Awza’i, on the authority of Yahya bin Abi Kathir, who said that the Sunnah is decisive over the Qur’an and does not The Qur’an is a judge according to the Sunnah

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ عَنْ حَسَّانَ قَالَ كَانَ جِبْرِيلُ يَنْزِلُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالسُّنَّةِ كَمَا يَنْزِلُ عَلَيْهِ بِالْقُرْآنِ

Muhammad ibn Kathir told us on the authority of Al-Awza’i, on the authority of Hassan, who said: Gabriel used to descend upon the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, according to the Sunnah, just as he descended upon the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. upon him by the Qur’an

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ قَالَ السُّنَّةُ سُنَّتَانِ سُنَّةٌ الْأَخْذُ بِهَا فَرِيضَةٌ وَتَرْكُهَا كُفْرٌ وَسُنَّةٌ الْأَخْذُ بِهَا فَضِيلَةٌ وَتَرْكُهَا إِلَى غَيْرِ حَرَجٍ

Muhammad ibn Kathir told us on the authority of Al-Awza’i on the authority of Makhoul who said: The Sunnah is two Sunnahs. Taking it as an obligation and abandoning it is disbelief and a Sunnah. It is a virtue to take it and leave it without embarrassment.

أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَ يَوْمًا بِحَدِيثٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ مَا يُخَالِفُ هَذَا قَالَ أَلَا أُرَانِي أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَتُعَرِّضُ فِيهِ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْلَمَ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ مِنْكَ

Suleiman bin Harb told us, Hammad bin Salamah told us, on the authority of Ya’la bin Hakim, on the authority of Sa’id bin Jubayr, that one day he narrated a hadith from the Prophet May God’s prayers and peace be upon him. Then a man said in the Book of God that contradicts this. He said, “Should I not see me telling you about the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and you would be exposed to it?” By the Book of God. أَخْبَرَنَا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِذَا حُدِّثْتُمْ بِالْحَدِيثِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَظُنُّوا بِهِ الَّذِي هُوَ أَهْيَأُ وَالَّذِي هُوَ أَهْدَى وَالَّذِي هُوَ أَتْقَى

Nuaym bin Hammad told us, Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad told us, on the authority of Ibn Ajlan, on the authority of Aoun bin Abdullah, on the authority of Ibn Masoud, that he said If you narrate a hadith on the authority of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, then think of him as the one who is more qualified, and the one who is most guided, and the one who is the most pious.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ إِذَا حُدِّثْتُمْ شَيْئًا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَظُنُّوا بِهِ الَّذِي هُوَ أَهْدَى وَالَّذِي هُوَ أَتْقَى وَالَّذِي هُوَ أَهْيَأُ

Abu Nu`aym told us, Mas`ar told us, on the authority of Amr ibn Murrah, on the authority of Abu al-Bakhtari, on the authority of Abu Abdul Rahman al-Sulami, on the authority of Ali, who said: If You narrated something about the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and they thought of him as the most guided, the most pious, and the most prepared.
